Please note the Family Center will provide corresponding training to learn about Parents As Teacher curriculum/evidence-based model and database.
Qualifications: The Parent Educator must be bilingual (Spanish/English) and must share in the Family Center philosophy and goals outlined in the policy manual and driven by the LPFCC mission. Ideal candidate will be familiar with the community and passionate about working with children. The candidate will have excellent organizational skills and an outgoing personality. This position prefers a background in Early Childhood Education, birth to 5 years old. A BA in Education or closely related field is preferred and /or 5 years of experience in Early Childhood Education.
Duties:
- Work closely with the early childhood team to fulfill fidelity & goals of the program.
- Assist in the Early Childhood programs.
- Facilitate home visits to monolingual Spanish/English speaking families following PAT national guidelines for caseload.
- Assist PAT Supervisor in grand funding opportunities and reporting to all funders as needed for accountability. Maintain database to support these reports (FARCAforce, Visit Tracker and others as needed).
- Teach parent education classes when appropriate & in line with stated grant goals.
- Coordinate and provide developmental and health screenings to the community: ASQ, ASQ/SE, Hearing and Vision Screenings. (Maintain equipment & paperwork for screenings, including OAE hearing device, referral forms, etc.)
- Act as a public relations representative of the LPFCC in the community. Coordinate liaison efforts between Center and community encouraging a positive relationship. Including but not limited to Durango Herald articles, SW Connect, monthly electronic newsletter, PSA’s, radio spots and other outreach marketing.
- Fulfill all grant and funding agreements, i.e. travel to meetings, database, reporting and all other grant requests.
- Assist with fundraising opportunities.
- Fulfill all other duties assigned by the PAT Supervisor as needed.
Parents as Teachers Guidelines
- According to funding recruit and maintain maximum number of families, balance between current PAT educators
- Maintain all fidelity requirements, data bases and updated training.
- Monthly PAT staff meetings
- Monthly reflective supervision
- Monthly Group Connections meetings
- Appropriate percentage of visits per family
- Timely health and development screenings
- Yearly PAT survey
- Yearly PAT APR report to national PAT office (Provide assistance to PAT Supervisor)
Health & Development Screenings
- Maintain all referral files, equipment and other items needed for administering the ASQ, ASQ/SE, hearing and vision screenings
- Make these available and known in the community
- Participate in other community partnerships to close gaps in the screenings and referral process
Marketing & Outreach
- Post appropriate events on Facebook page (LPFCC)
