Title: Lead Teacher
Position: Full-time and Part-time
Schedule: Monday- Friday 7:30-4:00
Wages: Starting at $20/hr

Sonflower Christian Preschool exists to serve the Durango area by providing a high quality Christian preschool program that partners with families to educate the whole child- soul, mind, and body in a loving environment. Our program is faith centered, play based, and outdoor focused.

Job Summary
A lead teacher is responsible for providing an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and spiritual growth. This person is responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program that will result in students achieving academic success in accordance with the Sonflower Christian Preschool policies. The person will also be intentional and create the opportunity where each student is introduced to Jesus as their personal friend and savior.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

• Plan developmentally appropriate activities in accordance with curriculum objectives
• Provide a safe and engaging environment that cultivates learning through meaningful experiences
• Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures as stated in the school handbook
• Facilitate student learning and development and assess at designated times
• Keep accurate and complete records of student progress and meet all applicable licensing regulations
• Maintain regular communication with co-workers and families
• Model Christian values and beliefs to staff, students, and families
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Sonflower Christian Preschool Director

Job Skills and Qualifications:

• Lead Teacher Qualified- minimum Level 3 in Early Childhood Certification
• CPR and First Aid Certified
• Support school’s Mission, Vision, and Values
• Possess strong oral and written communication skills
• Team mindset
• 2 or more years of experience in Early Childhood
