Job Description – Experienced Early Childhood Teacher Aide: Riverhouse Children’s Center is looking for Teacher Aides with experience in Early Childhood. We serve children 6 weeks – 5 years old. You’d work with a team, and we support our teachers in obtaining more education and skills – especially in the areas of child development, conscious discipline, and trauma-informed care.

FLSA Status: Full time or Part-time
Reports to: Program Director and Lead Teacher
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience as a Preschool Teacher Aide
- Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods
- Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
- Excellent communication and instructional skills
- Ability to act as mediator between children
- Cool-tempered, friendly and reliable
- Balance between a creative mind and a practical acumen
- High school or equivalent (Required)
COMPENSATION
Pay: $16.00 – $20.00 per hour

EDUCATION & TRAINING EXPECTATIONS
- Must be present at all monthly staff meetings and work days (see calendar)
- You must complete 15 hours of Continuing Education each year per Colorado Rules & Regulations
- Assistant teachers are required by state law to have “assistant” certification
EXPECTATIONS
- Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media etc.)
- Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
- Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments
- Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum (identify shapes, numbers or colors, do crafts etc.)
- Supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times
- Help to track children’s progress with the guidance of your lead teacher
- Communicate with parents regularly to understand the children’s background and psyche
- Collaborate with other educators
- Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards
