Child Development Associates (CDA)
CDA stands for “Child Development Associate,” and is a credential you can earn by completing a certain number of CDA approved trainings and hours of work experience. This credential is the only Nationally recognized one in this field, so that’s why it’s a very common staff requirement at Head Start programs. You can also apply for one on your own even if you’re not affiliated with Head Start. Getting a CDA is one pathway to becoming Lead Teacher qualified in Colorado. Apply or learn more about the CDA through the Council of Professional Recognition website.
